Bitdefender VPN was reliable during my time using it, as well. I haven’t experienced any disconnections or slow performance times.
This is a solid result, although not perfect. For example, I saw a slightly better speed (up to 540 Mbps, the same as when you were not connected to a VPN) when using IVPN with the WireGuard protocol supported, for example.
However, Bitdefender is very fast, very reliable, and I can’t say that I found any noticeable performance difference outside of testing in particular. I hope that most people will find the data rates offered by Bitdefender VPN to be reasonable.
In contrast MoleBitdefender VPN focuses on avoiding geo-restrictions, ads, cookies, tracking, and Wi-Fi sniffing. There is nothing wrong with that method, but if you want the work it puts in P in a VPN, you have to look elsewhere.
Bitdefender’s VPN is offered through a partnership with IPVanish. IPVanish provides the infrastructure, while Bitdefender provides the client software, branding, customer service, etc. It’s worth mentioning, since IPVanish came to light in 2018 when it handed over user logs to the US Department of Homeland Security. This happened in 2016 and it happened even though they had a no-log policy.
However, the ownership of IPVanish has changed hands several times since then, and is now owned by media company Ziff Davis. IPVanish has conducted an independent, log-free audit, the most recent occurred in 2025. IPVanish also publishes it visual report showing the number of requests they received from law enforcement and the responses they provided.
It’s good news, but wrinkles remain. IPVanish is a US company, and US laws are very strict when it comes to data privacy requirements. IPVanish doesn’t offer any privacy protections, but privacy experts tend to prefer VPN companies that are in serious trouble.
It’s also unclear how Bitdefender’s service compares to IPVanish’s no-logs policy. Bitdefender obviously keeps the user’s information private, because a Bitdefender account is required to use the VPN, and users must pay with a credit card. Bitdefender has customer-specific information about its no-log policybut the exact wording means that this could refer to the IPVanish audit.
Whether any of this is true depends on what privacy means to you. If you need extra network security to protect against trackers and avoid problems on poor Wi-Fi connections, then Bitdefender VPN will do the job. However, Bitdefender VPN does not meet your needs if you are worried about surfing the world or want to surf the Internet secretly.
Bitdefender’s VPN is an easy-to-use service that works well for people who expect what a VPN has to offer. It has a sleek design and offers solid web performance at a competitive price. It’s not the best VPN for privacy and it lacks a few features that some people would like, such as Linux support and a fixed IP address.
Pricing can get you to Bitdefender VPN—at least for the first year. The introductory offer of $35 for a year of service is a great value. Just remember to check the prices before it’s time to renew, as Bitdefender’s prices after the first year are very attractive.
