Birmingham twins live the same life for 82 years

Away from work, their lives are also closely intertwined, ever since their mother started wearing the same clothes.

“And then it went on,” he added.

Whoever gets up first, usually John Bowdler, chooses the outfit and the other brother agrees before they go downstairs for coffee with some toast.

Besides spending time with family members, they spend their days playing bingo and tenpin bowling and watching football.

Not surprisingly, one required cataract surgery on his right eye while the other underwent the same surgery on the same eye.

“We’ve always been similar in a lot of things that we do, so I guess when one of us needed cataract surgery, it just seemed natural for the other to do the same,” John Bowdler said.

When Bill Bowdle first had the surgery, he was the one who stood by his brother’s side to reassure him of what to expect.

“These are the first twins we’ve had as patients here, and it must be a very rare occurrence for both of them to have the same procedure on the same eye,” said Professor Cy Colley, a consultant at NewMedica Birmingham.
