Saudi Al-Ahly Saudi club management have started early preparations for the new season, reassessing the squad in preparation for making several changes in the current summer transfer window.
Ivorian Franck Kessier had decided not to continue with Al-Raqi amid reports that he was close to a move to a new experience outside the Rochen League, so management began to look into the future of a number of foreign professionals.
According to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya, Algerian Riyad Mahrez has become one of the most prominent names to be tipped to leave Al-Ahly in the summer transfer window as part of the squad’s restructuring plan.
The newspaper adds that Al-Ahly’s management is considering making changes at the level of foreign players, with the aim of strengthening the squad with new deals that will meet the needs of the technical staff before the start of next season.

The newspaper did not reveal the Algerian star’s potential destination, nor has there been any official comment from Al-Ahly management or the player regarding the rumors surrounding his future.
Al-Ahly’s management is expected to deal with the departures in the coming weeks as it looks to build a squad more ready to compete in all competitions next season after the club failed to fully live up to the aspirations of its fans.
Mahrez has been regarded as one of Al-Ahly’s most popular stars since joining the club, as he played a key role in the AFC Champions League title in the last two games.
