Each heralded by Julian Nott’s stunning and iconic brass theme, Nick Park’s first two Wallace and Gromit films have now been re-released in cinemas; they are just a fun big family.
Have a great day (★★★★★) from 1989 is a very funny sci-fi game that gives us an interesting picture of the inventor Wallace (voiced by Peter Sallis) and his faithful dog companion and assistant Gromit sitting directly on the right side of the seats and in the front room that was very old and watching again. who reminded me: David Hockney’s mother and father in his famous painting My Parents.
Wallace wants to go on vacation and wants the destination to have cheese, which he loves. He meditates on the moon and realizes that as it is made of cheese – the green color is not specified – it must explode quickly. But first they will build their rocket ships in the basement that get them there and back; there are experts in this amazing art and high humor where, when the rocket emits flames on the ground and smoke and takes off it has not yet been found, to realize that they did not remove the burner. And when he lands on the moon, which is more Georges Méliès than Neil Armstrong, he meets a strange robot that is a mixture of R2D2, a gas oven and an electric meter. Apparently they have influence on Pixar’s Wall-E.
Results The Wrong Pants (★★★★★) from 1993 was a sophisticated and detailed movie, despite being half an hour long, and it was a heist thriller that propelled Park into the big league. Although, for me, it does not have the simplicity of the high quality of A Grand Day Out, it is still very interesting, and certainly no film or traditional cartoon has done much to recognize that the word “pants” is only funny, regardless of the context.
In the film we see that Wallace, an old tech enthusiast, has bought “techno pants”, apparently off NASA equipment, in which he can get himself in and be carried around, stepping on walls and ceilings with futuristic, remote-controlled walking pants. It is given as a birthday present to a confused and uncertain Gromit, who is also upset when Wallace decides to take a paying guest into the house; this is the penguin and the famous gangster Feathers McGraw, who has a very strange voice. In the middle of the night, McGraw dresses a sleeping Wallace into a pair of pants, and drives him from a distance to a museum to retrieve a valuable diamond. The possibility of The Wrong Trousers, with the subplot of Wallace seemingly ignoring Gromit and hurting him, was released in 2024 sequel The Great Fowl’s Revenge
These two cute music games are fun and entertaining.
