Beth Potter was second and Alex Yee was back in the triathlon for fifth


In the men’s race, Olympic champion Ye returned to the competition and finished fifth.

Despite an 18-month absence from a WTCS event, Ye finished just 44 seconds behind eventual winner Matthew Hauser, who became the first man to defend his title in Yokohama.

Miguel Hidalgo had a sprint for second and third, with Luke Willian ahead of Vettel Thorne to take the final podium spot.

Ye’s British compatriots Jack Willis and Max Stapley finished eighth and 15th respectively.

In the para racing events, GB’s Henry Urand won gold in PTS3 with teammate Ryan Taylor in fifth place, while Josh Landman finished sixth in PTWC.

There was also a podium finish in the women’s PTS4, with Hannah Moore earning a silver medal.
