Action camera it can capture the most exciting moments in life. Whether you need one to tie around your head before you jump into the void on your next bungee jump, or you want something waterproof so you can watch the kids in the pool, there’s a perfect option for you. And Prime Day is the best chance to save money on new camera equipment. Below, I’ve rounded up the best cameras you can find right now.

Rounding out the best camera this Prime Day is GoPro’s Max 2 360 camera, which is currently 40% off. The GoPro Max 2 (7/10 WIRED Recommends) and my favorite 360 camera. The dual 14-mm lenses (35-mm equivalent) of the Max 2 each record up to a 1/2.3-inch chip, providing what GoPro calls “True 8K” (10-bit) video. The Max 2’s large sensor provides better visuals, better than other 360 cameras, and you can record a 10-bit color in the log for flexibility in choosing the type of color in post-production – a possibility that you will be forced to find in other 360 cameras. Although changing the log images is a lot of work (I hear you), the rendering of GoPro’s visual colors on the models is still the best I’ve tried.
As with most GoPros, the Max 2 has three mounting options: folding fingers, a triangular hole, and a magnet. This means you can ride the Max 2 anywhere. It also has an easy way to change the lens cover. To do this, just twist the glasses with your fingers and put new ones. You’ll find all the GoPro video features, including HyperSmooth video stabilization, remote control, TimeWarp, and more.
One flaw in Max 2 is its lackluster character. The best way to avoid this issue is to turn on the camera and Bluetooth microphone. Also note that if slow motion video is on your list of must-haves in an action camera, the Insta360 X5 (below) is probably a better bet. For everyone else, this is the 360 camera to get, especially at this low price.
The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 (8/10 WIRED Recommends) combines a large Leica lens with an 8K sensor and a rear camera, making it my favorite camera for vlogging. 8K video isn’t great for action, but the camera is great for slow-motion shots, which you can crop and send to 4K. The standout feature, however, is the rear screen. Some action cameras offer a small front screen for selfies, but the Ace Pro 2’s rear screen is there to help you take selfies. The back cover also helps to shoot from the hip and nail some unusual angles, especially when combined with Xplorer Grip Pro ($10 off).
