This robot has it all: the ability to clean almost-everything (including floors, walls, and the water channel), a powerful battery with six hours underwater, AI-powered garbage detection, and a robust mobile app. It also has the ability to swim above the pool. After cleaning, the AquaSense 2 Ultra floats, so collection is just a matter of holding it from the comfort of the deck. After a quick fix, drop the robot onto the included charging stand for repositioning, no cables required.
What are the dislikes? Only two things, really. Serious cleaning capabilities call for a serious chassis, and to say the 29-pound Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is underwhelming would be an understatement. Getting this robot out of the water can be a difficult task, so use hand curlers if you want to buy one.
There’s also the price: At around $3,000, it’s the most expensive battery-operated robot on the market, although there are plenty of competitors in the race. If your budget is tight, you can get more of the same from Beatbot’s Sora 70, which retails for just $1,499.
The traditional way to use a water robot is to keep it dry and charge it, then throw it in the pool when you don’t need it. Drain at the end of the run, clean the filter basket, and repeat.
Another option may be of interest to lazy pool owners: Drop the robot in the pool and leave it there for a week or two, let it cycle over and over again, then clean it once the battery is dead.
The trick with this method is that few pool robots have a large enough battery to allow for more than one or two cleanings.
