Saudi “Al Hilal” star Karim Benzema commented on Zinedine Zidane’s approach to take over the position of coach of the French national team by replacing Didier Deschamps.
The French Federation is expected to officially announce Zinedine Zidane’s appointmentTomorrow, Tuesday, during the press conference held at the headquarters of the Union.
In an interview with the siteKonbiniOn Stay or Go, Karim Benzema was asked about a number of current events, including the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as France coach.
As expected, the former France international has given his full support to his former Real Madrid manager, clearly endorsing the idea. Karima, who seemed very excited about Zidane leading the French team, said: “He’s a legend. He is like a big brother to me. Am I happy that he is coaching the French team? I don’t know if it’s him, but if it is, I’m very happy.”
It remains to be seen whether Karim Benzema will return to the French national team, despite being 38 years old, if Zidane takes over as coach of the team.
While his level remains high, the question of his return will inevitably depend on Zidane’s assessment and the current competition for attacking positions with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Michael Olissi and Ousmane Dembele, and the national team coach will then have to decide whether he has opened the door for his former star at Real Madrid.
