BenQ 4100i Review: Bringing Cinema to Your Living Room

Google Assistant on the W4100i is still useful. Using a Samsung Galaxy S26+ phone, I asked Google Assistant to set up the project, and everything was set up and running in minutes. All my favorite apps are loaded. This simple setup doesn’t work on iPhone, so you have to start the setup using your Google login. Google Assistant isn’t as advanced as Gemini, but it can create slideshows on almost any topic with captions. BenQ may also upgrade this model to Google TV in the future.

The BenQ W4100i (mostly) replaced the keystone and dimension of my projector screen and living room wall. I had to make the image straight, but I love how the Leica Cine Play 1 looks amazingly large in the image.

The BenQ W4100i remote was a pleasure to use. I appreciated the number of dedicated buttons for connecting to the projector’s advanced hardware, yet the remote never felt awkward or cumbersome. It was also easy to change the picture quality using the row of buttons on the bottom of the remote. Unlike most smart projectors that support streaming, there are no dedicated buttons for any apps.

The specs on the BenQ W4100i are impressive. 3,200 lights make movies come alive, even in a room that wasn’t dark. The projector hits 100 percent of Rec.709 and DCI-P3 color gamut and supports HDR10 +. BenQ includes settings such as Dynamic Black, tone and enhancement, and CinematicColor to help adjust contrast, black levels, and color contrast.

Although the picture quality on the W4100i is above average, it falls short of the competition. Colors were more vibrant and had a more dynamic look on Samsung’s The Frame Pro 2026. On the W4100i, the grassy green screen looked a bit brown instead. Similarly, the fog on the mountain was meaningless. And the Epson Lifestudio Grand Plus and Leica Cine Play 1 produced vivid reds and yellows in flowery images. The Skintons lacked diversity and stupidity, although the contrast was better than on TCL NXTVISION.
