An Argentinian journalist has revealed that Albiceleste captain Lionel Messi made a unique humanitarian gesture towards Cape Verde goalkeeper Fusenia and his family ahead of the 2026 World Cup finals.

After a marathon World Cup qualifying campaign, Argentina failed to win the World Cup title in favor of Spain, who beat Messi’s team-mates with an unanswered goal last Sunday to claim their second star.

According to Argentine journalist Yanina Latour, Messi personally wanted to provide free tickets to a number of people who were unable to attend the final so that they could watch the event from the stands.

He added that the initiative also included four members of Fosinha’s family, after Messi instructed his representatives to secure free tickets to attend the final.

Messi met Fosinha in the round of 32 of the tournament when he led Argentina to a 3-2 win over Cape Verde, a game in which the veteran goalkeeper caught the eye with some outstanding saves that almost denied the world champions a place in the qualifiers.
