The Haitian national team officially bid farewell to the 2026 World Cup, becoming the first team to be eliminated from the tournament after a 3-0 defeat by Brazil in Group Three, a match that decided their fate before the finals.
According to FIFA regulations, head-to-head results between teams are the main criteria for deciding a tie in this World Cup match, and as Haiti had already lost their first match 0-1 to Scotland, they were mathematically eliminated from the next round when the score was below zero.
With the win, Brazil topped Group C with 4 points, followed by Morocco on the same score, while Scotland finished third with 3 points, while Haiti finished the table with no points.
Matheus Cunha (two goals) and Vinicius Junior scored hat-tricks for Brazil in a game in which the Seleção dominated the first half before pulling back in the second half and missing chances to cut the gap to Haiti.
Thus, the Caribbean team led by coach Sébastien Mine becomes the first victim of the World Cup group stage, after two consecutive defeats against Scotland and Brazil, in a short participation that did not witness a single point or goal.
