The Champions League final between England’s Arsenal and France’s Paris Saint-Germain in Hungary’s capital Budapest today, Saturday, witnessed an exceptional incident in a major continental tournament for the first time in 10 years.

The two teams reached extra time after a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, the first time since the Real Madrid-Atletico Madrid final on 28 May 2016.

In the 2016 final in Madrid, Real Madrid and Atlético were also tied (1-1) in regular time, with the game going to extra time and then a penalty shoot-out, which the Royals decided in their favour.

Both teams (Arsenal and Paris) also scored in the Champions League final for the first time since May 26, 2018 (Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool).
