And while some may argue that Court of Owls is coming from the same well as League of Shadows – seen in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises – there are subtle differences that make the former feel like a better fit for Reeves’s fouler, sick Gotham.

Nolan’s League (led by Liam Neeson’s superb Al Ghul) were outlaws, a ninja cult that believed urban renewal could be achieved through mass murder.
