Barca want to use the player’s desire to reduce the cost of the deal
Barcelona have made significant progress in their efforts to sign Newcastle star Anthony Gordon in the summer transfer window to bolster the Blaugrana’s attack from next season.
As “Mundo Deportivo” writes, Gordon (25 years old) prefers to move to Barcelona, despite the intense competition of “Bavaria” Munich and “Liverpool” and wants to join the project led by German coach Hans Flick.

A few weeks ago, Newcastle valued Gordon at around 85-90 million euros, a price that is difficult for the Catalan club to pay, but they want to use the player’s desire to join Barca to reduce the cost of the deal and sign him for 5 years.
Barcelona see Gordon as a player who can play on the left wing and as a direct forward. He has played most of his games this season as a left-winger (26 appearances), but he has also made 16 appearances as a direct forward, knowing he has a contract with Newcastle until 2030.
The move, which Barcelona are keen to complete quickly, will see the Catalans strengthen their attack and partly compensate for the departure of Polish Robert Lewandowski, but that does not mean Barcelona will stop looking for a direct striker.
