“Barcelona” has decided to freeze the contract with the Italian Alessandro BastoniThe defender of Inter Milan, not being completely excluded from Mercato’s calculations.
As the Spanish newspaper “Sport” informs, the decision of “Barcelona” to freeze the deal caused an extremely tense situation among the management of “Inter” of Milan.
The Italian club and the player have been awaiting a formal move from the Blaugrana this week, presenting a financial offer that has yet to materialise, prompting both sides to rush to decide the defender’s future given the importance of the decision in determining the Nerazzurri’s sporting schedule.
Barcelona informed Bastogne of their interest in his services and outlined an agreement that would see them join each other for the next five seasons.
Inter Milan have challenged Barcelona’s management with public statements to start direct formal negotiations, but the Catalan club prefer to fully sort out their internal documents before launching their latest attack, urging Bastogne’s representatives to remain calm, especially as the defender has always shown a willingness to seal the deal.
Barcelona are set to sign a new striker shortly after the departure of Poland’s Robert Lewandowski, as Barcelona’s sporting director set their sights on Brazil’s Joao Pedro, the Chelsea striker, amid difficulties over a deal for Argentina’s Julián Alvarez, with management hoping to resolve negotiations quickly.
Barcelona will not be able to decide on the budget available to invest in the central defender position until the signing of Joao Pedro or any other attacking options are decided upon, which is important to use pressure cards on Bastogne, sporting director Deco’s first choice.
Inter Milan set a final price of around €60m to complete the deal in several recent letters, but this scenario seems unlikely for Barcelona as the Catalan club’s idea is to include players in the deal to reduce financial costs.
