Barcelona dictates its terms for Yamal to participate in the World Cup

Lamine Yamal has received approval from his club Barcelona to play with Spain at the World Cup, but with strict rules.

AS newspaper say the Spanish champions are concerned about the overuse of their 18-year-old star, just weeks after he suffered a hamstring tear.

He will be six weeks into his recovery by the time Spain face Cape Verde in their Group H opener on June 15, but Barcelona chiefs insist Yamal will not be directly involved in the matches.

Barca want the winger to play no more than 15 minutes against Cape Verde.

If all goes well, he would like to see him play 45-60 minutes in 6 days against Saudi Arabia.

Restrictions for Uruguay should be lifted on June 27, if there are no new problems.

Spain are among the favorites to win the World Cup and Yamal is their main attacking threat, having helped them win the European Championship two years ago.

The teenager has scored six goals in 25 appearances for his country and comes into the tournament after his best goalscoring season at club level with 24 goals in all competitions.
