Barcelona-Catalunya GP 2026: date, schedule, weather, UK start time and how to watch or stream the F1 race live in Spain on Sky Sports | F1 News

Formula 1’s European summer swing continues this weekend with the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, live on Sky Sports.

The season now heads to Spain for one of the most important dates on the sport’s calendar, after world championship leader Kimi Antonelli continued his stunning run of form to claim a fifth straight victory in Monaco on Sunday.

The teams usually bring significant upgrades to the circuit creating great anticipation, while the classic format on the hill of Montmelo ensures fans from Barcelona enjoy the event.

Lewis Hamilton will continue his quest for a first Grand Prix win in Ferrari Red after consecutive second places, but perhaps the most important element of the weekend will be whether George Russell can halt his slide in form.

Highlights from the Monaco Grand Prix

Pre-season title favorite dropped Hamilton to third in the drivers’ standings and will be desperate to cut a 68-point deficit to his Mercedes team-mate Antonelli.

Meanwhile, Lando Norris and Max Verstappen will be looking to bounce back from technical failures that saw them each retire in Monaco, with their respective McLaren and Red Bull teams yet to establish the level of consistency expected of them.

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya track

Traditionally, having a fast car at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya puts you in good stead for the rest of the season as there are two long straights and a mix of corner speeds.

The long-radius turns really test a car’s aerodynamics, and the return to the old layout in 2023 has increased overtaking on the main straight as cars blast through the final two corners at high speeds.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen controversially collided with George Russell at the end of last year’s race in Barcelona.

Weather in Barcelona for F1 races

Plenty of sunny spells for three days of track action and air temperatures of 29C for qualifying on Saturday and no rain forecast for Sunday’s race.
