According to the Spanish “Mundo Deportivo”, the Club World Cup regulations stipulate that the champions of the four Champions League rounds between 2025 and 2028 will receive a fixed seat, regardless of their position in the continental classification.
“Barcelona” ranks first among Spanish clubs with 73 points and is fourth in the world ranking thanks to the results of the current and previous matches in the Champions League.
The Catalan club are 14 points ahead of Atletico Madrid, who have 59 points, and 16 points clear of Real Madrid, who have 57 points, as the two Madrid leaders have excluded Barcelona from the first round of the 2025 Club World Cup.
Only three clubs are ahead of Barcelona in the standings: Arsenal with 93 points and Paris Saint-Germain, who have already won the qualifying round, with 89 points, followed by Bayern Munich with 77 points.
Arsenal have a good chance of becoming one of two English clubs to qualify for the Club World Cup despite failing to qualify for last Saturday’s final in Budapest, provided two other English clubs do not win the Champions League titles in 2026-27 and 2027-28.
“Arsenal” with 93 points is far ahead of “Liverpool”, which has 60 points, and “Manchester City” with 36 points and “Aston Villa” with 34 points.
FIFA has yet to decide the host country for the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup, but Morocco has recently become an increasingly strong candidate to host the event, especially as it co-hosts the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
