Journalist Pedro Volana, the correspondent of the famous Carousel Deportivo program of Radio Cadena Ser, revealed the important developments of the future of the Argentinian striker Julian Alvarez in the Atlético Madrid.
Alvarez is one of a number of major deals being eyed by several of Europe’s biggest clubs, led by Barcelona, who are looking for a star to fill the void left by Poland’s Robert Lewandowski, who announced his departure at the end of the season.
Fulana said: “Atletico knows very well that Julian wants to leave. It’s not just a feeling or an intuition, but they have clear information that there are real movements.”
He added that Barcelona previously contacted the management of Atlético Madrid and offered a deal that included a lot of money in addition to the player Ferran Torres, but the latter refused to participate in the deal, which only forced him to pay a huge amount.
Fulana emphasized that all threads of the deal and the player’s future are in the hands of one person, Miguel Angel Gilles Marini (CEO of the club), adding: “This strong man of Atletico Madrid is the one who directly decides the price of the player and he is not willing to give up Alvarez for less than his high market value, but rather the transfer fee is high.”
According to the same radio sources, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have also made initial contact with the Spanish club, and they are the most prominent clubs interested in the player along with Barcelona.
Fulana explained that the management of the Madrid club knows that the agents and those around the player are the ones pushing for his departure for financial gain, stressing that “the bad relationship with coach Diego Simeone is not the reason as some reports say”.

He concluded by saying: “Julian wants to leave and he has given the green light to discuss his future outside Atletico and the matter will become clearer in the coming weeks.”

Notably, Alvarez (26) has not won a single title for Atletico this season, which has increased his desire to seek a new challenge, while Barcelona see him as an ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
