Bangladesh defeated Australia in the first ODI in Mirpur

Australia suffered their second one-day international defeat to Bangladesh – and first for 21 years – in the series opener at Mirpur.

Without a first-team player on the tour of Australia, the all-rounder took six catches, including four to return Mosaddeq Hossain, as he made 86 in Bangladesh’s 284-8.

In reply the visitors went back to 2-2 as they lost Matt Short and Marnus Labuschagne to the first ball.

Australia labored to 191-9 before the Storm ended the game and sealed defeat by 86 runs in the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern system. Alex Carey scored 47 and Cameron Green scored an unbeaten 52.

Pacey Nahid Rana Carey and stand-in captain Josh Inglis took 4-41, while spinner Mosaddeq claimed 2-37 in his first appearance for four years.
