Australian police have released previously unseen photographs from their investigation into the murder of English backpacker Peter Falconio 25 years ago.
Falconio, from Huddersfield, was shot on July 14, 2001, on a remote highway in the Northern Territory town of Barrow Creek, 186 miles (300 km) north of Alice Springs.
The body has not been found and police hope the images can trigger memories that could lead to a tip. Killer Bradley Murdoch died of throat cancer at age 67 without revealing the whereabouts of Falconio’s body.
The images include a full-length shot of Murdoch looking straight at the camera during a police investigation.
Falconio’s girlfriend, Joanne Lee, escaped from Murdoch and hid in the mud for several hours, waving at two truck drivers.
One of the photos taken by police shows Lees looking distraught in the hours after the attack. Others show her injuries, where her wrists were tied with cable ties.
