The child made the fatal decision in the presence of the mother
Lamin Yamal had an early courage that led him to make a fateful decision as a child about which team he would play for.
“Can a seven-year-old child make a decision on his own that will eventually lead him to the football elite? In the case of Lamine Yamal, yes, absolutely.”
The story begins in February 2014 and is told by Rafael Rodríguez, the former president of La Torreta, in the first episode of the series “Forjados” (The Counterfeits) produced by Marca, presented by Javier Mancebo and dealing with the origins of many of the players in the Spanish national team, which is shown days before the start of the World Cup.
La Torretta was the first club that Lamine Yamal played for, where he spent five years, the first years of his football career, and during this time the skills of “Morinetti” (as Lamine was nicknamed at the club) attracted the attention of La Masia’s academy.
“There was a scout from Barcelona who heard about a very talented young player and two or three weeks later he came to the club’s old offices. He said he was very interested in her. I asked him if a test was needed. He emphatically said no, stressing that he would definitely join the team and that everyone already knows he’s going to get the matter over with quickly because everyone wants the matter over with. agreement stating that if the family decides to move there, there will be some benefits from the club.”
Then came the most exciting part. Lamine managed to enter the hearts of both “Barcelona” and “Espanyol” and had to choose a direction. Lamin made the decision himself, and the former president of La Torreta said. “Barcelona quickly showed interest and convinced the family to the point that Juanma, our coordinator, attended with Lamine’s mother, Sheila, and the child.”
He continued. “The mother was holding the child’s hand and Juanma asked her: So, Lamine, where do you want to go, Barcelona or Espanyol… Lamine looked and said: “I want to go to Barcelona.”
