“Arsenal” coach Spanish Mikel Arteta commented His team lost to PSG in the Champions League final.
Arteta said in the statements given to the TNT Sports network. “It’s very difficult to accept defeat when you’ve been consistent throughout the tournament until the final match and then lose the title on penalties, so it’s very sad and difficult.”
As for Arsenal’s penalty kick, Arteta said: “I watched the kick again and it was very possible that it was a penalty. “Especially if you look at the penalty awarded against us in the tournament this year… This season the referee made a decision in that case, but he made a different decision and that was important at the Christian Mosque.”
Arteta added: “We haven’t reached the Champions League final for 22 years, so imagine this is only the second time in our history that we’ve reached the final. We have to appreciate the season we’ve had, but at the moment nobody will be able to ease our pain.”
Regarding “Paris Saint-Germain”, the Spanish coach said: “It’s a very wonderful team and I congratulate them. It has a great personal quality and the technical handling is exceptional. It’s a top team. You have to deal with feelings, and if you are in pain, you have to overcome this pain.”
He continued. “If you think you could have done something different, you have to learn from it. Think about it, learn from it and then show the ambition we want to have again.”
Regarding his message to his players, Arteta said: “I’m very proud of them and the season we put in given the circumstances we went through. We within the club know very well what we have faced.”
“It’s a great honor to coach this group of players and this team, given how they stand by this motto and how committed they are to it. We won a big title (England Premier League) but we couldn’t win the biggest title… Losing the cup on penalties… No one can erase that pain from your heart.”
