Ibra in the eye of the storm
Former Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic tried to escape the negativity that surrounded him after a failed season in Milan that saw the Rossoneri finish outside the Champions League qualification spots, and I think he has succeeded in doing so with a new job analyzing matches for the 2026 World Cup.
But there were quick negative comments about the analysis of Ibra’s game, which American newspapers said did not add anything and did not achieve the desired return, indicating that the Swedish football legend lacks the necessary skills in this type of technical work.
He said Italian newspaper Tuttosport Zlatan Ibrahimovic, an adviser to AC Milan owner Jerry Cardinale, has come under fire from the New York Times, which described him as “arrogant” and “unprepared” for his performance analyzing the 2026 World Cup on Fox.
It comes as Rossoneri fans have increasingly complained about the lack of a clear administrative structure for the club, a month after changes at the club’s top football management level, which Ibrahimovic avoided.
“Without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Fox’s coverage of the World Cup would be better,” given that the former Swedish star didn’t add the expected value and that he seemed unfamiliar with the details of teams and players, unlike legend Tom Brady, who needed firsthand and analytical commentary on the American Football League.
He added that Ibrahimovic could be more useful if he focused on analyzing tactical and technical aspects instead of general commentary, to show his “intelligence and instinct” that set him apart as a player.

Criticism has not been limited to the media, with the Italian outlet reporting that Ibrahimovic has become the focus of growing anger from Milan fans over the role he plays in the new management structure, particularly the continued absence of the club’s sporting director following the Cardinale’s delay in filling the vacancies.
This crisis comes after failing to sign Marcus Crochet (Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director), leaving the race between Victor Pisani, David Ozik and Ramon Blanes without any of them to be signed.
AC Milan is facing a serious crisis as it has become the only club in the Italian league without a complete administrative structure in the technical area, the transfer market is approaching on June 29 and Kirovski (a potential candidate) does not have the license required by the Italian Football Federation to officially take over the role of sporting director.
