Apple and Intel reached a “preliminary agreement” for Intel to make chips for Apple hardware, Wall Street Journal it said on Friday. Apple moved away from Intel-powered computers with its transition to Apple Silicon, but it looks like the two companies will be working together again.
The WSJ says it’s “still unclear” what Apple will get for Intel’s chips. Apple and Intel did not immediately respond to a request for comment Seaside.
Bloomberg report this week Apple held “exploratory talks” with Intel and Samsung to have them manufacture Apple’s chips in the US – currently, Apple works with Taiwan’s TSMC to produce these chips. Ming-Chi Kuo, an investment expert, said at the end of last year Intel is “expected” to start shipping the “low-end Apple M processor” as soon as 2027. Bloomberg he said again in September that Intel asked Apple about possible investments and how they could work together.
