Apple is suing OpenAI after a former engineer used the virus to steal trade secrets



Apple is firing at OpenAI, demanding larger penalties after it stumbled on a “rare” bug that temporarily allowed an employee who joined OpenAI to access confidential Apple servers for weeks after he was fired.

In a a case On Friday, Apple requested a series of injunctions to prevent OpenAI from using confidential information allegedly stolen by former employees. According to Apple’s complaint, OpenAI conspired with former Apple employees as part of a conspiracy to “take an illegal shortcut” and develop AI-powered devices that could be marketed as Apple’s iPhone.

Apple explained that it discovered the error while investigating internal communications between an employee at the time, Yu-Ting “Alyssa” Peng, and an engineer who spent eight years “working on Apple’s development team,” Chang Liu.
