According to Mark GurmanApple is planning to reveal its first smart glasses at WWDC next June, hoping that they will launch at the end of 2027. The holding phase may be close to the company’s effort to find its secret codes and messages. Smart glasses have always, especially the Meta, sparked controversy over their ability to take private photos and videos. As Gurman says:
The company has spent more than a decade making privacy one of its defining words. Just getting into the same category as Meta can damage that reputation, no matter how different Apple’s approach is.
Apple will have to rely on on-device processing and skip contentious features like facial recognition or photography similar to Meta’s “higher consciousness.” Gurman also believes that Apple will avoid using customer recordings to train AI models.
Some of the secret hardware and software features are also said to be active. It is also possible that Apple may eventually release its smart glasses without a camera, or with a camera that only hears and cannot take video or photos at all, similar to what the rumors say about Apple.
