Anua Huang sets 17-year-old Ladies European Tour history

Teenager Anna Huang became the youngest player in Ladies European Tour history to win three tournaments with victory at the Lalla Merriam Cup in Morocco.

The Canadian, 17, was six shots off the lead going into the final round but a closing round 66 with six birdies and an eagle meant she edged overnight leader Kelsey Bennett by one shot at 14 under par.

Her win on Royal Dar es Salaam’s Blue Course followed her back-to-back titles at the La Cella Open and the Lacoste Ladies Open de France in September and meant she broke the record held by Gino Theticule, who was 18 when she won her third title.

“Honestly, I’m very shocked right now,” Huang said.

“To get my third win on tour in my second year is incredible. I’m just trying to enjoy the moment!”

It was a limited few weeks for the teenager, during which she qualified for the US Women’s Open before finishing tied for third at last week’s Amundi German Masters.

English defending champion Cara Gainer finished tied for sixth at eight under.
