SAN FRANCISCO-In his meeting with Claude developer Wednesday, Anthropic he announced agreement with SpaceX to use the full capacity of the data center in Memphis, Tennessee.
At the meeting, CEO Dario Amodei said the agreement was made to increase the usage limit for Anthropic Pro and Max subscribers.
The announcement was accompanied by an increase in usage limits; Anthropic increased the Claude Code window limit to five hours for Pro and Max subscribers, removed the maximum hour limit limit on Claude Code for the same accounts, and raised the API limit for its Opus version. Opus usage limits will change on May 6, 2026.
Anthropic says the deal gives the company access to more than 300 megawatts of new computing power. For its part, SpaceX focused its announcement on the potential of the Colossus 1 supercomputer that is at the center of the partnership. “Colossus 1 has 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs, including next-generation H100, H200, and GB200 accelerators,” SpaceX. he wrote.
In addition, Anthropic “interest” in working with SpaceX to create “several gigawatts” of orbital compute capacity, compatible with the latest (but unconfirmed) focused on data center research as a solution to the problem that “the computation required to train and operate the next generation of these systems exceeds what the Earth’s energy, soil, and cooling can provide in the time it takes.”
The deal may come as a surprise to those who have followed Musk’s recent comments — until now, he argued with Anthropic. For example, in February, he he announced on X that “Anthropic hates Western Civilization,” and shared a false tweet from Trump administration chief Emil Michael about Anthropic practices and his Claude laws.
