Anthony Gordon: Forward left on bench as Newcastle ‘look to future’

Howe was clearly thinking about next season with his team selection and did not decide to start Kieran Trippier, who is leaving the club at the end of the season.

“I thought Jacob Ramsey was great when he came on. He really made a big difference. As did Harvey. So it’s great to see players step up and take their chances when they come on.

“Our responsibility is to try and look to the future and see what the new team looks like next year.”
