Another sign of the end of the Guardiola era at City

“Manchester City” fitness coach Lorenzo Bonaventura is going to leave “Etihad” after the end of the current season.

Bonaventura worked with Guardiola for more than 15 years, joining Barcelona in 2009 before moving to Bayern Munich and then Manchester City with the Spanish coach.

“Some people familiar with the City system confirm that it is difficult to imagine Guardiola continuing to work with the team without Bonaventura.”

City’s starting goalkeeping coach Xavi Mancidor is also set to leave ahead of Guardiola’s arrival.

The departure of the coach can be considered an additional indicator of Guardiola’s imminent departure from Manchester City, noting that the contract of the Spanish coach is extended until the summer of 2027.

Bonaventura has a close relationship with Guardiola as the fitness coach worked to ensure that the physical work in training matched the way Guardiola wanted the players to perform on the pitch.

There is no doubt that Bonaventura’s departure raises doubts over the Manchester City manager’s future beyond this season, with the possibility of him leaving in the summer of 2026 as well.
