Bayern Munich are set to open urgent talks with England striker Harry Kane to extend his contract, which expires in June 2027, in a move aimed at blocking interest from Barcelona, who are looking to replace Robert Lewandowski.
Britain’s Sky Sports reports that talks will begin as soon as Kane returns from his summer break, as the Bavarians try to speed up the process to avoid offers from other clubs and not start the season with their striker in the final year of his contract.
“Barcelona” is interested in the deal
Barcelona had put Kane on the list of alternatives after signing Julián Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, as the Catalan club’s management were interested in the England captain and looked for ways to finance a potential deal that looked more attractive given his looming contract.
However, reports suggest Kane is taking it easy in Munich as the player and his family enjoy life in Germany, while the Englishman remains Bayern’s main attacking weapon after scoring 61 goals last season.
Extension for one or two seasons
Bayern Munich are looking to extend the contract of their No.9 striker for another season or two, a deal that seems the most likely outcome at this point, especially as Kane has repeatedly expressed his happiness at Bayern, while the club still sees him as a key pillar of their project.
Kane joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023 in a deal that could be worth around £100m with bonuses.
