Another favorite Kindle option is $30 off the latest price hike

If you don’t have much money for Amazon’s ecosystem, I think the Kobo Libra version is a better buy than Amazon’s best friend, $249.99 Kindle Colorsoft. It has many of the same features, including a sharp seven-inch display that makes book covers, funky, and stylish with less wobble than the Kindle version. It’s waterproof so you can relax on the beach, and it has adjustable warm lighting for comfortable reading at night.

Kobo also has several advantages over Amazon’s e-reader. It supports EPUB and many file types, which makes it easy to read books from different sources, while having double the storage capacity (32GB). Unlike Colorsoft, the Libra version includes page-turning buttons, which I find make for a better reading experience. It also supports Kobo’s optional Stylus 2, allowing you to annotate ebooks, write handwritten notes, use built-in templates, and even turn your notes into printables. Because of its size, I wouldn’t recommend it as a dedicated digital notebook for larger devices like the Kobo Elipsa 2E or Kindle Scribe, but it’s very useful for quick notes rather than using your phone. It also works with Instapaper, making it easy to save online documents for offline reading.
