Anne Hathaway has dismissed suggestions that she had size-zero models removed from the upcoming series The Devil Wears Prada in a bid to be included. Speaking to Good Morning America, the actor wanted to clarify the comments made by his best friend, Meryl Streep. Harper’s Bazaar in March.
Streep told the magazine that she was surprised by the thinness of the film, saying that “Annie stopped it again, and she stood up to the producers about it, and promised that the models we make our film will not be too tight! She is a regular girl.”
Speaking with Diversity at the film’s premiere in New York last week, Hathaway appeared to dispute the claims, saying that she “thought the scene would be more interesting to the audience if we had more bodies on display.
“I just went to the producers and asked this question: ‘Don’t you think that the event would have been stronger if we had an additional way to increase the size? They looked up and were very sad that they had not thought about it. I think they were locked in, if they were walking in and out.
Appearing on Good Morning America, Hathaway said, “There’s a lot of falsehoods coming out right now that people were laid off because of growth and that didn’t happen”.
He added: “Nobody lost their jobs, in fact, it created a lot of jobs.”
