Ange Postecoglou has been named as the new boss of Al Nasr in the Saudi Pro League, where he will coach Cristiano Ronaldo.
It will be Postecoglou’s first return to management since he was sacked by Nottingham Forest in October – after just 39 days in charge. The Saudi club posted on social media that he had signed a two-season deal.
Al Nasr won the Saudi Pro League last season – the first since Ronaldo joined the club in 2023.
Head coach Jorge Jesus led the team to the title but was only on a one-year contract. Current Portugal boss Roberto Martinez, who is currently coaching Ronaldo at the World Cup, has been linked with the role.
Postecoglou won the Europa League with Spurs in May 2025 before being sacked the following month. He previously won a treble at Celtic, delivering five trophies in two-seasons.
Postecoglou was one of the main contenders to replace Steve Clarke as Scotland head coach.
“A new chapter. Mr. Ange Postecoglou as coach of the first football team at Al-Nasr Club. And with a contract to extend it for two seasons,” the club announced X.
“We wish him and his staff success in their journey with the Global Club, God willing.”
Although Ronaldo is Postecoglou’s highest-profile player he will coach the likes of Sadio Mane, Kingsley Coman and Joao Felix.
