Andy Burnham prepares for Number 10: What Trump, Putin and Others Are Doing

In the fifth year since full-scale war with Russia, Ukraine is about to get its fifth British prime minister.

There is some concern in Kiev about the threat of political instability in Britain. Ukraine wants its allies to focus on the massive war in the heart of Europe. It wants the UK to continue its military aid, drones and economic support as promised.

But from Prime Minister No. 1, Boris Johnson – who most famously had a cake named after him – to No. 4, Keir Starmer, Britain’s support for Ukraine has been unwavering.

Given his past comments, there is no sense of change under Burnham.

Broadly speaking, his foreign policy priorities are unclear. But from the perspective of Ukraine, it is important that the new Prime Minister recognizes the threat Russia poses to the West and is committed to defending Ukraine and Europe accordingly.
