Obstacles stand in the way of an Asian leader’s dream
Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal in the current summer transfer window, in a deal reported to be possibly the biggest in the club’s history.
But despite the appeal of the idea, the reality seems more complicated and could force the file to end before it turns into a real negotiation.
Al Hilal, used to making big deals in recent years, have become more cautious in the transfer market, which could make the idea of signing Dembele closer to a dream than a reality.
If Al Hilal decide to make the deal official, they will not only have to convince the player, but they will also have to make a huge offer to Paris Saint-Germain.

It is believed that the value of the deal will not be less than 100 million euros, and may exceed this number, especially since Dembele is one of the most important stars of the French team, and his extended contract gives Paris a great advantage in negotiations.
In addition to the transfer fee, Al Hilal will be required to provide a huge annual salary and huge bonuses, making the deal one of the most expensive deals in Saudi football history.
The biggest obstacle is not only the financial aspect, but also the position of “Paris Saint-Germain”. Spain coach Luis Enrique considers Dembele one of the main pillars of his artistic project after he became a decisive element in the team’s attacking system, whether by creating chances, scoring goals or applying high pressure.
Therefore, the French club does not seem ready to part with one of its most prominent stars, especially after the success of the sporting project led by Enrique, which reduces the chances of completing the deal, regardless of its value.
Al Hilal might have been able to crunch the numbers for a deal of this size two seasons ago, but today the situation seems different.

The current administration is moving toward a more conservative spending policy and is looking to reduce costs, especially with huge contracts within the team that need to be restructured or settled, in addition to a desire to achieve greater financial balance in the coming years.
The club has also focused on signing younger, more dynamic players over the course of several seasons, rather than signing exclusive deals that eat up large chunks of the budget.
There is no doubt that the presence of a player of Ousmane Dembele’s caliber will give Al Hilal a huge technical boost and he, along with the existing constellation of stars, will form one of the strongest forward lines in the world.
But when you consider the value of the deal, the position of Paris Saint-Germain and the priorities of the current Al Hilal administration, the French star’s chances of a move to the Ligue 1 side seem very slim.
Dembele’s name may therefore remain in the headlines in the coming days, but turning this interest into an official deal will require exclusive data, which does not appear to be available yet.
