An illogical explanation.. The referee of the Morocco match breaks his silence about Scotland’s penalty.

The Morocco-Scotland showdown, which ended in a clean sheet victory for the Atlas Lions, at the World Cup witnessed widespread refereeing disputes.

John McGinn appealed for a penalty after he went down in the Lions’ penalty area, but Uzbek referee Ilgiz Tantashev gave none.

The brother of Scotland midfielder John McGinn, Stephen McGinn, revealed the referee’s reasoning for not awarding the penalty.

And publish BBC websiteStephen’s comments on BBC Radio Scotland’s Sportsound program where he said: “The referee on the pitch explained to John McGinn that he had not committed a foul as the ball was going out of bounds when Morocco’s Nael El Ainaoui intervened.”

Stephen commented, condemning. “Since when is the bounce of the ball considered a violation in the penalty area, this reasoning is completely devoid of logic.”

He continued. “At first I thought it was a penalty and after the TV replay I confirmed it was 100 percent correct.”
