British journalist Angelina Kelly from talkSPORT Radio has added a controversial opinion, calling for Bruno Fernandes to refuse to play… Portugal national teamif Cristiano Ronaldo is not left out of the starting line-up during the World Cup.
The offer comes at a time when Portugal are among the hot favorites to win the title, while Bruno arrives at the tournament as the most important creative pillar of coach Roberto Martinez’s team.
Despite expectations that the 41-year-old Ronaldo will lead Portugal’s attack line, his goalscoring ability has become a source of concern for some.
Angelina Kelly expressed her opinion sharply, considering that Ronaldo’s presence harms the Portuguese national team.
“Bola” newspaper published Angelina’s statements, where she said: “Ronaldo was not at the required level in Euro-2024, and maybe he was not at the same level in the last World Cup. We’re now in 2026 and he just doesn’t want to stop.”
He added that some of the missed opportunities in friendlies were “a bit embarrassing”.

Kelly suggested an extreme move by one of the team’s most important players. “Bruno Fernandez, as one of the key players, should go to Roberto Martinez and inform him that Ronaldo cannot be in the starting lineup. Otherwise, he will leave the team and return to his home, because Ronaldo is destroying his and all his teammates’ chances of winning the World Cup.”
