The win calms things down a bit
Real Madrid managed to heal their wounds temporarily with a respectable two-goal victory over Real Oviedo in the 36th round of the Spanish league, just days after losing the El Clasico to Barcelona, a defeat that officially handed the title to the Catalan side and fueled the anger of the Royals fans.
The stadium was tense from the opening minutes of the match, after Real Madrid fans booed a number of players, led by Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, expressing their anger at the team’s clean sheet despite high pre-season expectations.
Anger also spilled over into the stands, where club president Florentino Perez clashed with some fans who held him responsible for the local and European collapse, and a banner appeared demanding his resignation.
Despite the tense atmosphere, Real Madrid managed to settle the match, as Gonzalo Garcia opened the scoring in the 44th minute.

Jude Bellingham scored the second goal in the 80th minute with a special kick from outside the penalty area.
The match also saw the return of Mbappe to feature in the second half, but he failed to make a real impact.
The win did nothing to change Real Madrid’s disappointing season but gave the team a temporary reprieve amid the storm of criticism that has hit the club since losing all the trophies.
