Spain’s Xabi Alonso expressed his great joy after the announcement He will take the position of Chelsea coach from next season.
The English club explained in an official statement that Alonso will begin his mission on July 1, 2026 to lead the new phase of the Blues project at Stamford Bridge.
Alonso said in a statement published on the official website of the London club. “Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in world football and I am very proud to become the manager of this great club.”
“From my conversations with the ownership group and the management of the sport, it became clear that we share the same ambition, which is to build a team that can consistently compete at the highest level and challenge for titles.”
The Spanish coach continued. “There is a lot of talent in the squad and huge potential at this club and it will be a great honor for me to lead it.”
Alonso concluded his remarks by stressing that in the next phase his focus will be on hard work, building the right culture and winning the championship with Chelsea.
Yesterday, “Chelsea” lost 0-1 to “Manchester City” in the final of the FA Cup, leaving the current season empty-handed.
Alonso, meanwhile, was sacked as Real Madrid manager midway through the current season after losing to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia.
Alonso’s most notable achievement in history was guiding Bayer Leverkusen to a domestic double in Germany two years ago, breaking Bayern Munich’s absolute dominance.
