Al-Ittihad surprise Fabinho with shock decision

Al-Ittihad Club management are set to make a decision that could shake up Brazilian star midfielder Fabinho as part of ongoing moves to reshuffle the squad in preparation for next season.

Fabinho joined Al-Ittihad at the end of July 2023 and during his career with the team, he managed to win 2 Saudi Roshen League titles in the 2024-2025 season and the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup in 2025, while his current contract expires on June 30.

According to a report in Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya, Al-Ittihad’s management is moving towards not renewing the contracts of the trio of Fabinho, Awad Al-Nashiri and Abdulaziz Al-Bishi as part of the club’s plan to revamp the squad and build a roster more ready to compete in the next round.

The newspaper adds that the administration is currently working on reviewing many technical and administrative documents related to the future of the team, taking into account the tendency to rearrange some elements, in addition to supporting the needs of the technical staff in the upcoming summer transfer period, with the aim of increasing the team’s chances to come back strong and compete in all competitions in the new season.

Awad Al-Nashiri and Abdulaziz Al-Bishi have two contracts with extensions until June 30, 2026.
