The captain of the Saudi Arabian team, Salem Al-Dosari, made an interesting and somewhat strange statement after the “Green” team lost 0-4 to the Spanish counterpart in the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Saudi national team failed to muster anything of note against the La Roja Storm as they trailed by three in the opening 25 minutes, before the agony mounted, conceding another goal early in the second half.

Al-Dosari said in the television announcements after the match. “We have to correct mistakes and losing is part of football and we will try to make up for it in the last game against Cape Verde.”
“Coming up against big teams like Spain gives us strength and experience in competitions the size of the World Cup, and what comes next will be even better.”
He concluded his speech. “Despite the brutal defeat against Spain, the Saudi Arabian national team remains one of the strongest teams in the world.”
