Al-Ahly began their moves in the summer transfer market in earnest and it didn’t take long after the introduction of the new Moroccan technical director, Hussein Amouta, when he officially announced his first deals in preparation for the new season;
The Red Giants held a press conference at the club’s headquarters in Al Jazira on Tuesday afternoon to introduce Hussein Amouta as the first team’s technical director, during which the Moroccan coach announced the formation of his assistant technical staff.
The technical staff includes Hisham Zahid as coach, Yasser Radwan as trainer, Joey Botiver as goalkeeping coach and Renato Buscioli as workload planner, in addition to a performance analyst who is expected to arrive in Cairo in the next few days.
After the presentation of the technical staff, Al-Ahly announced the end of the contract of Ali Mahmoud from Enpi on a five-season contract extension, after the club’s head of contracts, Dr. Essam Serag El-Din, completed all financial and administrative procedures related to the deal.
Al-Ahly’s board of directors, headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, had earlier announced the appointment of Wael Gomaa as director of football, replacing Walid Salah El-Din, as part of a new technical staff led by Hussein Amouta, who took over from Denmark’s Jes Torop.
It comes amid Al-Ahly’s preparations for the new season, which will take part in the Egyptian Premier League, the Egyptian Cup and the African Confederation Cup, amid efforts to bolster its ranks with new elements that could boost its chances of competing for all the titles.
