After three apologies, Al-Hilal champion and Qaher Al-Nasr are among the 4 candidates to lead the federation.

“Dean” is looking for a course correction in the new season

The former coach of “Al Hilal” headed the list of 4 names nominated to lead the club “Al-Ittihad” next season, replacing the Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao.

Al-Ittihad Club announced the sacking of Conceicao as the team’s technical director at the end of last season due to poor results and failure to win any titles despite the league and cup titles last season.

Saudi journalist Majid Hood has confirmed that Al-Ittihad club management have contacted 3 coaches to take over the Tigers so far and all of them have apologized for the mission, led by the team’s former coach; Portuguese Nuno Santo.

The former Barcelona coach of Spain, Ernesto Valverde, was also included in the list, in addition to German Dino Topmüller, who recently took over as the coach of Lance.

After the apology of this trio, Al-Ittihad Club turned their attention to 4 other coaches, led by Romanian Razvan Lucescu, who previously coached Al-Hilal from 2019 to 2021 and won the AFC Champions League title with them.

Dean is also looking at signing Mexico coach Javier Aguirre and Serbia coach Veljko Paunovic, in addition to Germany’s Jens Wissing, who won his second AFC Champions League title with Gamba Osaka at the expense of Al-Nasr.

Al-Ittihad will be looking to mend their ways next season after finishing fifth in the Roshen League last season, losing to the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup in the semi-finals and the AFC Champions League Elite in the quarter-finals.
