Morocco star Achraf Hakimi faces a possible ban from the World Cup finals after a decision was made to prosecute him on rape charges.
The network reported.talkSPORT:“The Moroccan national team could lose Hakimi’s services later in the World Cup after it was confirmed that he will stand trial for rape.
Although he has not been convicted, the confirmation of the trial could affect Ashraf Hakimi during the World Cup as he may face difficulties in entering Mexico.
The Moroccan team will play its three matches in the group stage in the United States of America.
But if Morocco finish the group stage as runners-up in Group C, they will host a round of 32 match in Monterrey, Mexico.
If he qualifies as one of the best third-place finishers, he could play in the round of 32 in Mexico City, and perhaps in the round of 16 if he continues to progress through the tournament.
The Mexican consulate website states that anyone can be denied entry to the country if they face criminal charges or are convicted of a serious crime.
