After the Iranian star was accused of treason and excluded. Do not believe those who try to slander me.

Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun, who was left out of his country’s national team roster, expressed his love for Iran and wished the team success in participating in the 2026 World Cup.

Azmoun, who is considered the third best scorer in the history of the Iranian national team, was left out of the preliminary list announced by coach Amir Kalinow to participate in the tournament last Saturday.

Iran’s official news agency (IRNA) said the suspension was due to injury, while other media reports said he was dropped from the team last March after posting a photo of himself with Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, according to Reuters.

Iran’s official media accused Azmoun of “treason” after he published the photo.

In this regard, the 31-year-old player said through his pages on social networks. “I would like to speak from the bottom of my heart about things that many people may not know, or some misunderstandings that might make some people be quick to judge me.”

“I represented my country with pride. When we win, I am proud of myself and my teammates, and when we lose, I am the saddest, like any other fan… I love football and I love the good people of Iran who deserve the best, this people who have always given me their support and energy.”

“The Big Show”

Azmoun, who is from Iran’s Turkmen minority, confirmed that as a teenager he received a “huge financial offer” to represent another team, but turned it down.

“My answer was: I am a child of Iran and I want to play for my people and make them happy. I have promised myself that I will do my best in every match in the Iran jersey to make the hearts of the fans happy, especially the children living in the faraway towns and villages.”

“Wherever I play football, Iran remains my identity, my heart and pride. I wish success and pride to the players and the technical staff, especially Aamir Khan. They participated, won and made the people of Iran happy.”

In another post on Instagram, Azmun directed his speech to the national team of his country.

The young Emirati star of Al-Ahli added: “Many people try to distort my reputation, but what they say is not true at all. Good luck guys.”

Iran will play in Group G at the World Cup, which also includes Egypt, Belgium and New Zealand, and its matches will be held on American soil.
