The Football Association of England has decided the fate of its German coach Thomas Tuchel, yesterday, Wednesday, after the fatal defeat against Argentina in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2026 (2-1).
England led with a goal from Anthony Gordon (55) until the final minutes, before Argentina turned the tables with two goals in crucial time from Enzo Fernandez (85) and Lautaro Martinez (90 + 2).
Tuchel came under heavy media and public criticism as he conceded two goals in the final minutes, dashing the Three Lions’ hopes of reaching the World Cup finals for the first time since 1966.
England will play their French counterparts in the early hours of next Sunday to decide the third-placed team, while Argentina face Spain in the final.

Some have questioned whether the German, who is under contract to lead England at Euro 2028, is now fighting to save his job in the extremely painful circumstances of the defeat.

For his part, Tuchel confirmed after the Argentina game his desire to lead England at the European Championships two years from now, after he signed a new contract in February last year.
