Barcelona have not given up on their dream of signing Julián Alvarez despite a swift rejection from Atletico Madrid, and the Catalan club are set to submit their second bid to seal one of the summer’s most high-profile deals in the Mercato.
According to Spanish radio station RAK, after Atletico Madrid rejected Barcelona’s first offer of €100m for the Argentine striker, Barca officials have agreed to a second bid.
According to the radio, “Barcelona” is going to increase the financial value offered to “Atletico” to 120 million euros.
Barcelona are banking heavily on Alvarez’s desire to wear the Catalan shirt, especially as the Argentine forward has been open to the club’s sporting project despite his Atletico Madrid allegiance as one of the most important elements of coach Diego Simeone’s squad.
A new round of talks between the two sides is expected to begin in the coming days, with Barcelona insisting on finalizing the deal in the face of a tough stance from Atletico, who appear unwilling to let go of their star man easily, even if the offer reaches the €120 million mark.
