After Onahi… Ajax target Saudi Al Hilal star

It seems that the movements of “Ajax” in the transfer market do not stop at just one name. After signing Moroccan midfielder Azedine Onahi from Spanish side Girona, the historic Dutch champions began looking for a new attacking play, this time from Saudi Al Hilal.

Reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Ajax has already held talks with Al Hilal regarding the possibility of buying the contract of Brazilian striker Marcos Leonardo in the current summer transfer window.

According to Romano, the Dutch club believe that Leonardo has a lot of potential that qualifies him to excel in the Ajax draft and that he can become a key element of the team in the coming years.

Ajax’s interest in Leonardo is not limited to his goalscoring ability, but also extends to his technical vision for the future, with club officials believing the Brazilian striker could form an important pairing with Azedin Ounahi if the two deals go through together.

The club believe that combining a midfielder with playmaking skill like Onahi and a quick and determined striker like Leonardo could give the team a variety of attacking solutions that would suit Ajax’s traditional style of possession and high pressing.

Despite the start of talks, no final agreement has yet been reached between the two sides as Al Hilal examine their stance on selling the player given his importance to the team’s attacking options.

During the new season, Marcos Leonardo was excluded from the accounts of the Italian coach Simone Inzaghi, the coach of Al Hilal.
